Aspire

My thoughts behind this piece was to "be in the world but not of the world". People have mentioned that they see a temple. Well, there are two temples involved here. "In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established". One is in the top left and the other right dab in the middle. What did you see first; the temple or the things of the world? Too often the world gets in our way of seeing the temple, but in this piece I was hoping that the temple for once would get in the way of the world. Aspire is truly one of my favorite pieces and it helps me remember to be in the world but not of the world.

  1. Dang, lost the whole comment I did before! You know my opinion on the other pieces from our conversation during the summer. However, Aspire is new to me. I really like it. The colors are great , the geometrical composition intriguing and it invites curiosity. I know others think the outline is that of a temple. Be that as it may, it is still the comment above still stands. I think it gives the professor what he was looking for - " I think I know what I am looking at but not quite sure." The piece keeps the eye moving about and holds interest.

  2. I like this one. Makes me thnk of the temple. I like that the outside is the temple, like what we should all aspire to, but inside it all the fun wholesome things in life that make the journey enjoyable.

  3. I actually really like this piece. I agree with previous comments. Its intriguing and invites curiosity. I wonder what it would look like if all the spires were pointing toward a focal point which is higher than the picture itself. the small pieces in the bottom right hand corner confuse me but don't necessarily detract from the picture. But I don't think they add either.

  4. This one is totally lost on me. I don't see the temple, but it's obviously there because all these other people see it. I thought I would offer my perspective as a person of the world. haha. I don't' see the world either. To me this one just looks like a bunch of colorful shapes with some white trees and some balconies. If it's supposed to be the world or the temple shouldn't I see the world? Or a resemblance of it?

  5. Love this one ... Saw the Temples right away and the disorganized confusion of the world surrounding them with unstable fragility...
