Aspire

My thoughts behind this piece was to "be in the world but not of the world". People have mentioned that they see a temple. Well, there are two temples involved here. "In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established". One is in the top left and the other right dab in the middle. What did you see first; the temple or the things of the world? Too often the world gets in our way of seeing the temple, but in this piece I was hoping that the temple for once would get in the way of the world. Aspire is truly one of my favorite pieces and it helps me remember to be in the world but not of the world.

Peace of Mind

I did this piece during a time in my life when I was struggling with school and trying to figure out what direction I needed to take... the reason for the tittle is to imply that i'm searching for "peace of mind" among all this confusion... this is a dramatic piece, meant to make you feel in a way how I felt at the time.

Imagine

This piece was inspired by my daughter Annabelle. One day she was swinging on her swing shouting out the alphabet. As I watched her get higher and higher she started to laugh hysterically. When I asked her why she was laughing she said because it felt like she was floating. This piece is a balance of imagination and education. The letters and the numbers are the alphabet A-Z and numbers 1-10 to show progression in a young girl's life. The swing is life itself; sometimes we move forward and sometimes backward. The butterflies give a sense of floating, the shadows represent moving forward, and the lines at the bottom represent milestones as we get older. The only way we get to a new milestone is to follow our dreams of flying and learn to kick our legs.
